In 2000 Peter Ford Catering was established with the intent of bringing sophisticated catering to regional Victoria. Using the freshest ingredients from regional producers and suppliers and with an innovative and creative approach, Peter Ford Catering specialises in Weddings, Corporate and Private functions in Ballarat and across regional Victoria. Described as a ‘Culinary Artist’ Peter Ford designs menus to excite the senses and will leave you eager to share your Peter Ford culinary experience. With an infectious enthusiasm and passion for fine food it’s not surprising that Peter Ford Catering has become the best catering company in regional Victoria.

MEET PETER

PETER FORD’S ENTHUSIASM FOR FOOD AND EVENTS IS INFECTIOUS! BE IT IN A MASTER CLASS, FOOD GATHERING, FUNCTION OR JUST SHARING A MEAL.

Peter trained in the Kitchens of Fanny’s and sister restaurant Glo Glos in the early eighties, took a year long sabbatical in Europe and returned to Fanny’s as Sous chef. He left for another year of travelling and cooking in the UK, across Europe, the Middle East and Asia giving Peter an insight to the heady cuisines of these regions.

Peter worked as Sous chef under Gary Jones at Lynch’s before heading north to the Macedon ranges where he led the kitchens of BundaleerThe Bentinck and later Campaspe House. It was here in the ranges Peter began the hunter gatherer lifestyle as a chef, building relationships with farmers and producers trendy now, but unrecognised back then. He raised game birds and poultry on his property and honed his butchery skills on hapless Suffolk sheep!

As Catering Manager and chef of the Convent Gallery Daylesford, Peter broadened his range of producers, wine makers and wild food harvesting.

Ballarat became home when he led the kitchen of the critically acclaimed The Ansonia, he developed a loyal clientele who followed when he leapt off the a la carte scene in 2000 and into his own business Peter Ford Catering.

In 2006 Peter was one of ten Australian chefs invited to Slow Food’s Terra Madre in Turin Italy. This acknowledgment is testament to his driving ambition to share good food that is clean, safe and fair. He reflects this philosophy through his master classes, catering and his retail food brand; The Real Meal.
